This tournament was the strongest Postal Chess Tournament ever held in Canada's History. It came together as a result of the CCCA joining the ICCF and affiliating with the CFC. The intent of this event was to help in the selection process for future teams for the World Olympiade's. Invitations were sent to all of Canada's top-ranking postal and OTB players, Eleven players accepted (ten of whom were members of the CCCA).
